Daesang seeks to promote the happiness of customers and the development of our society by returning part of its corporate profits to our society.
Daesang has helped to preserve and propagate Korean traditional culture at home and abroad. It has also worked to nurture the young generation of the Korean by financially supporting their education.
The Daesang Foundation, which was set up by the business group in 1971, has financially sponsored various public cultural events with the objective of helping to preserve and propagate Korean traditional culture.
In a bid to preserve and further develop Korean classical music, the foundation has financially supported the "Central Classic Music Orchestra," a private musical troupe, since 1987. Besides these, the foundation has greatly helped to propagate Korean classic music abroad and make the public feel closer to the music at home by financing the troupe's performances at home and abroad and opening classes for the classic music.
In an effort to preserve "our traditional local songs," the foundation has also produced an album of "kangkang Suwolrae," the most popular song among locals in Haenam, South Cholla Province. The foundation has also published a book entitled the "Autobiography of Traditional Skill Holders," which described their lives in the colloquial form.

The foundation has awarded scholarships to a total of 7,500 cash-strapped students in junior-high schools and universities to help them continue their studies.
In concert with the invention Promotion Association, the foundation has sponsored writing and cartoon drawing contests about invention for junior-high school students from across the nation to foster their inventive mentality and creativity.
In particular, Daesang has continued to sponsor the "Blue Dragon Movie Festival," the biggest film festival in expected to grow into one of the high value-added industries in the 21st century.
By doing so, Daesang has helped to single our potentially talented candidates for future actors and actresses, thereby revitalizing creative filmmaking activities in Korea.
As part of the "local research program" designed to research synthetically the divergent cultures, histories and economic activities of localities across the nation, the foundation has sponsored an academic research project and the publication of its results.
All of this financial assistance for cultural events and academic activities derives from Daesang's corporate philosophy of returning part of its corporate profits to our society to promote the happiness of our customers and develop our society based on the spirit of respecting humans.
